Medical & Scientific Affairs Manager

Sysmex South Africa, functions as a support networks for distributors of Sysmex Automated Diagnostics Analysers, Reagents and Information Systems for medical laboratories and healthcare facilities throughout South, Southern and Eastern Africa.

Main Purpose of the job:

This role will support the Sysmex team to engage with key medical stakeholders in Africa and identify and drive opportunities for Sysmex products and services. The role requires medical and technical input to support commercial activities by adding clinical context to the Sysmex products. To provide objective scientific evidence and apply knowledge and understanding of clinical needs to support the sales of the products. This role is supported by a global medical scientific team.

Candidate Requirements:

  • MBBCH with 5 years post graduate work experience.
  • Good understanding of the clinician: medical laboratory interface and medical laboratory environment  
  • Experience in the African essential healthcare environment (HIV, TB, malaria) would be an advantage
  • Clinical trial experience will be an advantage
  • A passion for healthcare development and ability to network independently with healthcare professionals and Key Opinion Leaders in order to influence through, objective scientific and evidence based medical and scientific expertise.
  • Willing to travel extensively - locally, regionally and internationally

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive opportunities to make a difference in the African healthcare landscape.
  • Network and influence Key Opinion Leaders at high level policy meetings, summits and conferences as a peer and be able to work independently to drive Sysmex Products into the market. Ability to create credibility in terms of your influences and value add to the healthcare industry.
  • Identify, plan, co-ordinate and participate in Scientific Symposia and Workshops locally, nationally and internationally where required
  • Apply objective scientific and evidence based knowledge and understanding of clinical needs of the healthcare industry  to support the sales of the product
  • To provide leadership in the promotion of the clinical values of Sysmex solutions by means of education and scientific support  in the form of educational and promotional material content, preparation of training.
