“We have been a Sysmex customer since 2000, where previously we were with Beckman Coulter. We have had a contract with Sysmex for our haematology automation service since January 2000. Initially one SE Alpha, one SE9500 and 1 SP100 slide maker were installed. This has now been replaced by 2 XE2100s, and an SP1000 delivery is pending to replace the SP100.
Introduction of 2 XE analysers in October 2007, replacing the slower SE 9500s, has made workload handling much easier due to the higher throughput of the XEs (no backlog of work at the end of the day). Automated NRBC counting will reduce the number of blood films performed in the dept and will be a significant benefit.
Sysmex logistics service has also helped us improve our reagent stock management- we have moved to reagent delivery on a fortnightly basis. This arrangement suits our needs and it has made stock control much easier for the team.
Instrument reliability and performance was crucial when the contract was awarded to Sysmex UK. In this respect we felt Sysmex was ahead of its competitors. Additionally we feel that Sysmex are always looking to improve and to introduce new systems, which again places them ahead of competition.”
